India: the regulatory fee Etsy cut
India is the only country in this calculator where the regulatory operating fee went down on 22 June 2026, from 0.29% to 0.05% of the item price plus shipping. Every other country here that has one saw it rise, and outside this tool only Türkiye was cut, from 2.27% to 1.67%. At a twentieth of a percent India's is now closer to a rounding line than a fee: on a ₹2,200 order it is ₹1.10, where the old rate took ₹6.38.
India also keeps the 3% payment processing rate charged in the United States, Canada and Australia rather than the 4% charged across Europe, with a fixed part of ₹10 an order, and a listing fee of ₹18. Etsy bills that listing fee as USD 0.20 and converts it, so it drifts with the exchange rate.
Taken together, that leaves the Indian schedule the lightest of the four countries here that charge a regulatory operating fee, and on the same footing as the American one for everything else.
Worked example: a ₹2,000 item with ₹200 shipping
Listing ₹18.00. Transaction 6.5% of ₹2,200 = ₹143.00.
Processing 3% of ₹2,200 plus ₹10 = ₹76.00.
Regulatory 0.05% of ₹2,200 is only ₹1.10.
Total ₹238.10, 10.8% of the ₹2,200 the buyer pays you.
At the old 0.29% regulatory rate the same order cost ₹243.38.
