How this is calculated
Stripe prices a payment by its method: a percentage of the amount plus a fixed sum for a card, or a flat or capped charge for a bank debit, taken from the standard price list Stripe publishes for your country. A card from abroad adds a surcharge, and a payment made in another currency adds a conversion charge on top, each shown as its own line with the arithmetic beside it. In the price-to-charge mode the calculator works backwards from the amount you want to receive, rounding up to the next cent.
FeeA × r + f + A × s + A × c
Price to receive N(N + f) ÷ (1 − r − s − c)
- A
- the payment
- r, f
- the method's rate and fixed fee
- s, c
- the payer's origin surcharge and the conversion charge, when they apply
What this does not include
- Negotiated, volume or interchange-plus pricing: only Stripe's published standard rates.
- Disputes, refunds, Radar, Billing, Tax, Connect and instant payout charges.
- Klarna and other methods priced 'from' a rate that varies by buyer country.
- VAT or GST Stripe adds to its fees where it charges them, except Australia's, which the rates include.
How this calculator works
Stripe fees explained: cards, surcharges and passing the fee on. How Stripe's standard pricing builds a fee from a rate, a fixed amount and surcharges, a $100 card payment worked through, and how to gross up a price.
