France: the steepest regulatory operating fee in this calculator
France carries the highest regulatory operating fee of any country this calculator covers: 1.14% of the item price plus shipping. Etsy raised it from 0.47% on 22 June 2026, more than doubling it overnight, and it is now more than twice the British rate and over twenty times the Indian one. Etsy charges more in two markets outside this tool, Hungary at 1.97% and Türkiye at 1.67%, but among the countries here 1.14% is the top of the range.
On a €100 sale, a French seller pays €1.14 more than a German one for a listing that is otherwise identical. That is not a rounding error on a shop turning over thousands of orders a year, and it is the sort of thing a calculator hard-coded to one country cannot tell you.
Everything else follows the euro-zone schedule: a €0.18 listing fee, the standard 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing at 4% plus €0.30, and Offsite Ads at 15%. The regulatory fee is charged on the same base as the transaction fee, so it does not touch VAT, and it applies whether or not the order came through an advert.
Worked example: a €40 item with €5 shipping
Listing €0.18. Transaction 6.5% of €45.00 = €2.93. Processing 4% of €45.00 plus €0.30 = €2.10. Regulatory 1.14% of €45.00 = €0.51.
Total €5.72, 12.7% of the €45 the buyer pays you.
Before 22 June 2026 the regulatory line on this order was €0.21. The same sale in Germany, where no regulatory fee applies, costs €5.21.
