India's tax year is the financial year from 1 April to 31 March, and every salaried employee makes one choice that changes the bill: the new regime, now the default, or the old one. The new regime has lower rates, a standard deduction of 75,000 rupees and a rebate that leaves taxable income up to 12 lakh free of tax, but it allows almost none of the old deductions, such as up to 1.5 lakh under section 80C. Both add a 4% health and education cess, and an employee's EPF contribution is 12% of basic pay. The take-home pay calculator shows both regimes side by side. Stamp duty on a home is a state tax, charged on the higher of the price and the government's guidance value, with a registration fee on top, so the stamp duty calculator asks for your state first.

Three local facts shape borrowing. A car has two prices: GST is inside the ex-showroom price, but road tax and registration, set by each state and commonly 6% to 12% of it, are added on top, and the on-road figure is what you finance in the car loan calculator. Card interest is quoted by the month, and 3.5% a month is a common headline, about 42% a year before compounding, while the Reserve Bank of India sets no ceiling on it; against that, a 5% minimum payment clears very little, as the credit card payoff calculator shows. And retirement saving in EPF and the NPS is already counted once, so the retirement calculator should include it either as a contribution or as a lower target, never both.

The calculators below are set up for India, and each one says which of these rules it models. Every dataset behind them is listed at the foot of this page with the date it applies from.
