How this is calculated
PayPal charges a business a percentage of each payment it receives for goods or services, plus a fixed fee set in the currency, at the rates on the merchant fee page for the country where the account is registered. A payer outside your country adds an international surcharge that depends on their region, and money received in another currency loses a conversion spread when it is converted. Switch to the price-to-charge mode to find the smallest price that still leaves the amount you want after PayPal has taken its share.
FeeA × r + f + A × s + A × c
Price to receive N(N + f) ÷ (1 − r − s − c)
- A
- the payment
- r, f
- the commercial rate and fixed fee
- s
- the surcharge for the payer's region, zero at home
- c
- the conversion spread, when the payment is converted
What this does not include
- Personal payments to friends and family, charity rates and micropayment pricing.
- Pay Later, alternative payment methods, chargebacks and dispute fees.
- Interchange-plus card pricing and any rate negotiated for high volumes.
- The fixed fee for a currency other than your own: the calculator uses your currency's.
How this calculator works
PayPal fees explained: commercial rates, surcharges and gross-ups. How PayPal builds a merchant fee from a rate, a fixed fee by currency and a surcharge by payer region, a $100 sale worked through, and how to pass it on.
