Germany: the European formula, stated to two decimals
The effektiver Jahreszins is the Consumer Credit Directive's APRC, set out in § 16 of the Preisangabenverordnung and its annex, so it is an effective yearly rate exactly as in the rest of the EU. Germany differs in two details that can change the figure on a contract. The result is stated to two decimal places, where the directive asks for at least one; on the calculator's opening figures that is 12.80% rather than 12.8%. And § 16(4) leaves certain costs out: notary fees, land registry fees, optional insurance and charges that arise only if the borrower breaks the agreement. Enter only the fees that remain in the fee fields to match a German disclosure.
The annex also fixes assumptions for credit with no set amount or term, such as an overdraft or a card, which this calculator does not need: it works from a fixed loan and fixed instalments.
