New Zealand
Calculators set up for New Zealand rules, from ACC to KiwiSaver, the official cash rate behind Kiwi mortgages, and what changed this tax year.
The New Zealand tax year runs from 1 April to 31 March, and there is no tax-free allowance: income tax starts at 10.5% on the first dollar and rises to 39% above 180,000 dollars. Two other deductions come out of most pay. The ACC earners' levy, 1.75% in 2026-27 up to a ceiling, funds no-fault accident cover, and KiwiSaver takes the rate you choose, where the default rose to 3.5% on 1 April 2026. The take-home pay calculator includes both. Buying a home carries no stamp duty at all: duty on residential property ended in 1988 and on all land in 1999, so the mortgage calculator has no transfer tax to add.
Retirement here starts from a universal pension. New Zealand Superannuation is paid from 65 on residence, not on contributions or a means test, so it is never clawed back as your savings grow, and because it is a flat amount it replaces more of a modest income than a high one; the retirement calculator projects what you add to it. Credit is less constrained. No interest rate limit applies to a credit card or car loan: the strict rules on high-cost consumer credit start at an annual rate of 50%, well above any card. Since 1 July 2026 the Financial Markets Authority, not the Commerce Commission, has enforced the consumer credit law, the background to the credit card payoff calculator. A car pays no purchase tax beyond the 15% GST already in its price, and nothing scaled to its emissions, as the car loan calculator notes.
The calculators below are set up for New Zealand, and each one says which of these rules it models. Every dataset behind them is listed at the foot of this page with the date it applies from.
