Most Swedes pay income tax only to their municipality and region, at a combined rate that differs from one kommun to the next, and pay state income tax of 20% only on taxable income above 643,000 kronor in 2026. Between gross pay and the tax bill sit a basic deduction and the employment tax credit, the jobbskatteavdrag, which together keep the tax on an ordinary salary well below the municipal rate. Employers pay social contributions of 31.42% on top of salary, which never show on the payslip. The take-home pay calculator uses your municipality's rate. On a house, the buyer pays stamp duty of 1.5% for the lagfart plus a fixed fee, and 2% of any new mortgage deed; a bostadsrätt, the way most flats are owned, pays neither, as the stamp duty calculator shows.

Sweden has no fixed pension age. The riktålder, the target retirement age, is recalculated from life expectancy and set six years ahead, and the income and premium pension can be drawn from three years before it, while the occupational tjänstepension that comes with almost every collective agreement adds a second layer; the retirement calculator projects the third. Consumer credit has carried two caps since 1 March 2025: interest may not exceed the reference rate plus 20 percentage points, and total interest and charges may not exceed the amount borrowed, which the credit card payoff calculator explains. A car's emissions tax, the malus, is not in its price at all but an annual charge for its first three years, a cost the car loan calculator leaves out of the loan.

The calculators below are set up for Sweden, and each one says which of these rules it models. Every dataset behind them is listed at the foot of this page with the date it applies from.
